A family-owned HR consultancy.

Built on experience, run on trust.

We work with growing organisations and purpose-led charities on the people decisions that matter most the ones shaped by risk, growth or change. We're not a helpline. We're not a framework-and-leave consultancy. We're a trusted partner who stays involved.

Our story

We started King HR Advisory because too many growing organisations and charities are getting HR advice from people who've never actually had to make the call themselves.

We've sat in the rooms where it matters. We've led the restructures, handled the tribunals, delivered the difficult news, and built the foundations that let organisations grow properly. We started this business because we wanted to make that experience available to organisations that can't access it through a full-time hire.

We're Jason and Becky King. We're based in Sheffield and we work with organisations across the UK. We run this together, and we keep our client list deliberately small. That's not a limitation. It's how the work stays good. When you work with King HR Advisory, you get us. Every time.

Our Founders

A young man with light brown hair and a beard, wearing a dark blazer and white shirt, smiling against a black background.

Jason has spent over 15 years in senior HR leadership roles. His background spans financial services, insurance, care, manufacturing and the charity sector, including scaling a people function from 200 to 400+ people across the UK and EMEA.

He holds an MSc in Human Resource Management, a Level 7 CIPD qualification, and is a Chartered Member of the CIPD. Alongside his professional career, he's served as a board trustee at Children's Heart Surgery Fund and Age UK Sheffield.

What clients actually notice: he gives straight answers, he's dealt with most things before, and he doesn't hide behind jargon or process. When something difficult happens, he tells you what to do and why.

Co-founder & Director

Becky has spent a decade in leadership roles across not-for-profit and hospitality, including managing teams of 20 through periods of significant change. She understands what purpose-led organisations feel like from the inside: the stretched capacity, the emotional weight, the importance of getting culture right when the mission depends on it.

At King HR Advisory, Becky leads on client relationships and experience. She makes sure the organisations we work with feel supported from day one and that the advice we give actually gets turned into action.

What clients actually notice: she builds trust quickly, keeps things moving, and makes the whole process feel straightforward even when the situation isn't.

Our clients

We work with two types of organisation, and we're deliberate about both.

Growing SMEs — founder-led businesses, scaling organisations, privately backed companies, that have outgrown informal HR and need senior people leadership without the overhead of a full-time hire. Typically led by a founder, MD or CEO who is still carrying too much of the people agenda personally, and knows it.

Charities, social enterprises and purpose-led organisations - typically 20 to 200 people, led by a CEO or Executive Director who cares deeply about their mission and their team, but doesn't have a dedicated HR function. Often navigating growth, funding-driven change, or a moment of complexity that needs senior expertise and careful handling.

What both have in common: they want a trusted partner, not a consultant. Clear thinking and sound judgement, not an HR function for the sake of it.

We've worked inside both types of organisation. We understand the pressures from the inside.

Why purpose-led organisations in particular?

Part of the answer is professional. Between us, we've spent years working in and alongside charities, social enterprises and mission-driven organisations. We understand how they're governed, how funding shapes workforce decisions, and how the tension between mission and management plays out in practice.

Part of the answer is personal. Our daughter Amelia was seriously ill as a young child. During that time, the Children's Heart Surgery Fund provided our family with support we didn't know we needed and couldn't have asked for. It changed how we understood what these organisations actually do. Not in the abstract. When it matters most.

That experience is part of why King HR Advisory exists, and part of why we chose this sector deliberately rather than listing it as one of fifteen on a dropdown.
