Want budget certainty? Pre-paid ER days.

Buy blocks of 3, 5 or 10 ER days upfront and use them across the year for investigations, hearings, or complex case support. You get a small discount and we get priority booking commitment. Ideal for organisations that know they'll have cases but want to smooth the cost.

Example: 5 days at £700/day = £3,500 (vs. £3,750 at standard rate).

Valid for 12 months.

From your first call to outcome letter, here's what happens:

Get in touch

You call or email with the situation. We listen, ask the right questions, and confirm the scope and fee by next working day.

Engagement letter & prep

You sign the terms, we get a brief from you, and we start gathering information or preparing for interviews.

We do the work

Investigate, interview, gather evidence, prepare the hearing bundle, or give you advice. You hear from us on progress.

Hearing or outcome

We chair the meeting, take notes, and produce an outcome letter. You get the result and next steps.

Close and follow-up

Case closed. Within a few weeks, we check in with a post-case review—and often that's when a retainer conversation starts.

Why work with King HR Advisory?

Senior, Chartered expertise

You're not working with a generalist or a template service. Jason is Chartered CIPD with 15+ years in senior HR roles at organizations scaling across the UK and EMEA. He's handled tribunal cases, complex investigations, and board-level decisions.

Local presence, fast response

Based in Sheffield with hearings and investigations happening in person across Yorkshire. You get next-working-day response on urgent cases, not a call-center helpline.

Charity and trust expertise

Experience with trustees, safeguarding, compliance, and the unique pressures of running not-for-profits. We understand governance and mission alongside employment law.

Fixed prices, no surprises

You know what it costs before you commit. Transparency over vague day rates.

You're not a case number

A named adviser. No rotating team. We invest in understanding your organization so our advice is specific and practical, not generic.

Fair process matters

We follow ACAS Code compliance, best practice, and the principle that fair process protects you. A rushed, sloppy investigation is more expensive in the long run.

Frequently asked questions

What's included in a "Managed Case"?

Everything. We take a full brief from you, investigate (if needed), interview witnesses, gather evidence, prepare the hearing bundle, attend or chair the hearing, take notes, and produce an outcome letter. You hand it off and get the result.

How long does an investigation take?

Depends on the complexity. A straightforward one-allegation case usually takes 2–4 weeks from start to hearing. A complex multi-witness investigation might take 4–8 weeks. We give you a timeline upfront.

What if it goes to tribunal?

We can help you prepare and brief your solicitor, but we don't represent you in tribunal. We refer tribunal representation to trusted employment law firms. A fair process we've run gives your solicitor the strongest foundation.

Do I need a full retainer if I just have one case?

No. A single Managed Case or ER Case Support works perfectly. Many clients start with a case and move to ER Cover or a retainer after seeing our work.

Can you advise on settlement agreements?

We can advise you on the process and what a reasonable settlement might look like. But settlement agreements themselves need to go to an employment solicitor (it's a legal requirement that the employee gets independent legal advice).

Are your retainer fees fixed?

The base retainer starts from £750/month. We scope the exact fee based on your headcount, complexity and the level of support you need. Most are in the £750–£1,500 range.

Do you offer manager training?

Yes. "Handling difficult conversations and formal processes" half-day sessions for your leadership team. These often highlight ER gaps and lead to retainer conversations. Fixed fee, up to around 12 people.

How do you ensure fairness in an investigation?

We follow ACAS Code of Practice, interview all parties, document everything, and never pre-judge. We separate the investigation from the decision so allegations are heard fairly. If you later decide on action, that decision is taken independently of the investigation.

Can you work across the UK or just Yorkshire?

We support disciplinary and grievance cases across Yorkshire: Sheffield, Leeds, Wakefield, Rotherham, Doncaster, Barnsley, Chesterfield, Bradford and beyond. In-person hearings in your area. Remote support is available across the region.

What if I need something that's not listed here?

Call us. Restructures, TUPE transfers, pay reviews, organizational change, capability management, management coaching—we do all of this. The services above are our ER focus, but we're equipped for wider HR work too.

“I’ve worked closely with Jason and have consistently seen him operate as a genuine strategic HR partner. He brings together strong commercial awareness and deep ER expertise, handling complex and sensitive matters with sound judgement and confidence.

He builds credibility quickly with senior stakeholders and is highly effective at translating people challenges into practical, business-focused solutions. Jason is particularly strong at ensuring people decisions are aligned to organisational culture and values, especially in periods of growth, change and heightened risk”

— Vicky, Chief People Officer
