Outsourced HR Support for Small Businesses and Charities
King HR Advisory provides outsourced HR support on a monthly retainer. You get a named, Chartered HR adviser you can ring or email, practical help with the day-to-day, and a regular review of where your people risks and priorities sit. It is designed for small and growing businesses and charities that have no HR team of their own.
The idea is simple. You should not have to find a consultant, explain your business from scratch and agree a fee every time a manager asks you a question.
What you get
Ongoing advice. Ask a question by phone or email and get a clear answer. Urgent queries are answered by the next working day.
Letters and documents. We draft or review the letters, contracts, and policies that go out under your name, so that they are accurate and say what you mean.
Support with formal cases. From case strategy and letter drafting to hearing preparation for disciplinary, grievance, absence and capability matters, so that you are not making it up as you go.
Policies written for you. We build or revise policies and handbooks around how your organisation actually works, not from a generic template.
Legislation updates. A regular newsletter setting out what has changed and what it means, and urgent policy amendments when the law requires them.
Regular review. A monthly or quarterly meeting, depending on your priorities, with notes, to look at what is happening and what needs attention.
A named adviser and cover. One adviser who knows your organisation, backed by a second who can step in when needed.
A second, higher tier adds strategic HR support for organisations that want help shaping the people plan as well as handling the day-to-day. Support is offered on a fair usage basis rather than being unlimited or hard capped, and we will tell you if usage is running well above what the retainer was designed for.
Who it suits
Outsourced HR support works best for organisations with a handful to a few hundred employees, where people matters come up regularly but do not justify a full-time hire. It suits founders and managing directors who are tired of being the HR department, charities whose trustees want reassurance that the basics are covered, and businesses that are growing and need to formalise how they manage people.
It is less suited to organisations that want a provider to run their HR system or payroll. We do not administer HR platforms. We work alongside whichever one you use and focus on advice and strategy.
How to start
Book a discovery call. We ask about your organisation, your people, and what is causing concern.
Agree the retainer. We set out what is included, how often we will meet and what falls outside the retainer, such as larger projects, an annual policy review or extended case work, which we quote separately.
Handover and onboarding. We review your contracts, policies and open issues so that we can advise from a position of knowledge.
Questions we are often asked
Is this cheaper than employing someone? For most small organisations, considerably. A retainer gives you senior expertise for the hours you need rather than a full salary, and it scales as your needs change.
Is it like an HR helpline? A helpline gives you a different person each time and generic advice. A retainer gives you an adviser who knows your organisation, your history and your people.
What if we get a tribunal claim? We can prepare the process, help with the response and advise on strategy. We are not solicitors, so where legal representation is needed we introduce trusted referral partners.
Can you support a charity with trustees and volunteers? Yes. We understand governance, safeguarding-related policies, and the reporting lines that come with a board of trustees.
